Friends

We've been blessed with some time with dear friends from G days during our sojourn here.  The S from Switzerland...

And the K from French study...

And I'll just close with a humorous note.  During my lesson yesterday I was struggling to hear the difference between the 'u' and the 'ou' sound during pronunciation drills.  I found about.com's description to be a bit of macabre humor afterwards... "In French, ou is pronounced more or less like the ou in "soup." The French u, on the other hand, has no English equivalent - the closest sound is also the ou in soup..."

LOL! That's very helpful to know that both sound like ou as in soup. John says for the French u, round your mouth (almost like you're puckering up for a kiss) then say "e". It actually comes out sounding like the French u.

Here are some photos from our most recent 4 day seminar.  This was actually the 7th step of the 'Timothy Training' and those who had been through the various steps were rewarded with a recently published Hausa Bible commentary.  After the Bible, there are relatively few rich theological resources readily available in Hausa, so we were glad to be able to distribute these. We recently inducted a new PAACS (Pan African Association of Christian Surgeons) resident into our program.  While I am not one of the faculty for this program, I do appreciate these do...
