Homeschooling

Ir is actually doing a hybrid day... an hour at the MK school, and then the rest of the morning with Mom (and of course her occasional classmates E and the 11 month old whose head is poking out in the back).

Look at all those books! You must not have packed much else! ;-) Do you mind sharing - did you order a curriculum? Sonlight maybe? What does Ir do at school that she doesn't do at home? (Sorry - I'm very curious!)

Yes, we shipped these books via container. Its tough because with literacy around 20%, there's really no appreciable local children's book source. No public library!
We did not use a single source for our curriculum. We use some Sonlight, some Well-trained mind, some Charlotte Mason ideas, some of your ideas (such as Noeo Science), etc.
We prepared our homeschooling curriculum last year, not knowing if there would be a teacher for the local MK school. But we're delighted that she can be plugged in with it... she spends an hour a day there working on manipulatives, journalling. She enjoys the social interaction.

Here are some photos from our most recent 4 day seminar.  This was actually the 7th step of the 'Timothy Training' and those who had been through the various steps were rewarded with a recently published Hausa Bible commentary.  After the Bible, there are relatively few rich theological resources readily available in Hausa, so we were glad to be able to distribute these. We recently inducted a new PAACS (Pan African Association of Christian Surgeons) resident into our program.  While I am not one of the faculty for this program, I do appreciate these do...
