Rain

Most people here are farmers.  Rain and the status of the crops are major topics of conversation, particularly during the rainy season of June-September.  Many years, the rains are poor and the November harvest is inadequate.  There has been a lot of anxiety (and prayers) for rain this year, because up until a week ago, we hadn't see enough rainfall.  But this past 9 days we have had about 6 really good rainfalls, and everyone's "blood pressure has quietted," as one of my friends said.  And Ir and E love it.

Adorable! I wish we could let the kids run around in the rain like that, but it seems we always have lightning with our rain.

Off topic, but we've been listening to The Princess and the Goblins and it always makes me think of you because the princess and Ir share a name. Such a good story! (If you don't have it, it's available free online.)

Here are some photos from our most recent 4 day seminar.  This was actually the 7th step of the 'Timothy Training' and those who had been through the various steps were rewarded with a recently published Hausa Bible commentary.  After the Bible, there are relatively few rich theological resources readily available in Hausa, so we were glad to be able to distribute these. We recently inducted a new PAACS (Pan African Association of Christian Surgeons) resident into our program.  While I am not one of the faculty for this program, I do appreciate these do...
