Pool Time

The compound pool opened this weekend, and while its one of those little round things that takes two strokes to cross, my kids talk about it all the time like it's an Olympic-size delight. But they don't exactly inspire confidence with their swimming abilities. I mean, picture Ir and E... the little arm floaties I managed to survive on as a kid are not nearly enough for these modern day water warriors... oh no: my kids have to have the latest in floatation safety, with foam built into their bathing-suits like body armor. Here are my kids, bobbing on top of the water that (generously estimating) is two feet deep, clinging desperately to their giant inflatable floaty, and screaming at me to hold them with both arms.

First Son would be so jealous! He's been begging for our little pool (even smaller, of course) and I keep telling him March in Kansas is too soon to get it out. I can understand why he's a little confused; it has been in the 70s and even in the 80s sometimes.

They sure do look like they're having fun. Teddy can't tell us in words yet, but he loves going swimming with Daddy each week.

Here are some photos from our most recent 4 day seminar.  This was actually the 7th step of the 'Timothy Training' and those who had been through the various steps were rewarded with a recently published Hausa Bible commentary.  After the Bible, there are relatively few rich theological resources readily available in Hausa, so we were glad to be able to distribute these. We recently inducted a new PAACS (Pan African Association of Christian Surgeons) resident into our program.  While I am not one of the faculty for this program, I do appreciate these do...
